Can Vick Get Eagles Back on Track?

Dick Vermeil
It was just a few weeks ago that the Philadelphia Eagles (3-4) and New York Giants (1-6) squared off. Going into that game, week 5, the Eagles were riding a three-game losing streak and the Giants were still searching for their first victory of the season. The Eagles were victorious and followed it up with a strong performance against Tampa Bay before falling to the Dallas Cowboys. The Giants went on to loss another before, finally, capturing their first win of the season.

That first meeting, though, sent the Eagles and their fans on a wild quarterback roller-coaster ride. Michael Vick injured his hamstring that afternoon and had to leave the game. Nick Foles came in and performed admirably, leading the Eagles to victory. The next week, Foles had a career day against the Buccaneers, but followed that up with a dud against the Cowboys before suffering a concussion. Now, Vick returns to attempt to right the ship.

The questions, there are many. Is Vick healthy enough to play? Will LeSean McCoy be able to get back on track and lead the offense? Can the Eagles defense force turnovers like they did the first time these teams met?

Prior to the game, get coaching legend Dick Vermeil’s thoughts on these questions and more during Ask the Coach, sponsored by Penn Orthopaedics.
